The development of phone is far from reaching its peak. Every year, hundreds of series of new phones are being launched worldwide, each with its upsides and downsides.

Phones GenerationHowever, as we may have known, the more advanced phone, the shorter the phone’s battery life is. We still remember the old brick Nokia phone could last a week without charging, yet the new generation phone cannot last a day without a recharge.

Many factors affect phone’s battery life. It can be the signal, screen brightness, and others. To minimize the battery drain, you can take the following steps.

Turn off the signals

No SignalThe signal is the primary suspect in battery draining. That is why when you call for hours your battery indicator shows a great declination. It also happens when you visit a remote area where carrier signals barely reach the place. As a sign, your phone will show ‘searching’ on the screen or display a question mark on the signal bars.

To save battery, you can turn your phone to airplane mode, whenever you are in an area where signals are hard to find. If you really can’t, at least turn off your mobile data.

Decrease your screen brightness to minimum

iPhoneCurrent smartphones spend most of its power on its screen. When you play a game, it is not really the game that drains the battery, but the display on the screen.

Thanks to the battery status, you can check on what makes your battery drops. And on the energy use list, the screen is most likely to be on the top. To minimize it, dim your screen brightness to the minimum as much as possible.

Do a background check and disable unimportant apps

Background appDo you need the update of that guitar tuner app? Do you need the piano app to run all the time in the background? If you happen to have a lot of secondary apps, you need to know that they might be still running in the background even if you already swipe them. If the condition continues, your battery can get empty fast.

As an example is a guitar tuner app. You only need it once in a while, but if you just press home after using it without really closing it, the app will still be active in the background. To deal with this, you can disable from the setting menu.

But make sure you don’t close the chatting and mails apps. You do not want to miss any important messages from anyone.

Turn off the special gesture movement feature

Special gestureCan you double tap your screen while its off and your phone unlock? Cool. But not really. This feature is also one of the main suspects of battery draining in cell phones.

Usually, the feature is called ‘Special Gesture’, but different phones might have different names. And disabling it can save you up to 50% of the battery use.
